December 2019 Newsletter

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Hello and welcome to an end-of-the-decade Tri-Topia newsletter! We have had a great 2019 and we hope you have too. It’s brilliant to see Tri-Topia continue to grow, both with our camps and also through our online coaching. We have met so many brilliant people and made even more friends through this brilliant sport – whether that be at race events or during our camp weeks. Latest acquaintance was made at Bahrain International Airport where a kind Frenchman introduced himself to us, and turns out he lives not too far away from Tri-Topia. It’s a very small world.

Record Temperatures in 2019

As many will know it was a sizzler in France this year particularly at the end of June and start of July. We saw temperatures peak just into the 40 degrees on a couple of occasions. Despite the hot weather, training was still successful – setting off after breakfast for a bike ride or run was very pleasant in the early morning warmth, and the pool was made full use of for cooling off at every opportune moment. It was also great to talk to many people at length about fueling, hydration and salt intake. We hope that those who came to our camps went away with much more than just a week of exercise, but filled with plenty of knowledge about nutrition, strength and much more.

New formats, big success

This year we tried something new and introduced our ‘Open Weeks’. A full week at Tri-Topia with access to all facilities, with the freedom to follow your own plan or simply relax by the pool all week! It is a great option for those looking for a more affordable package, families looking to have more time and freedom to explore the area, or the focused athlete following their own structured training plan. Learn more about our Open Weeks here.

We also opened our doors to groups booking out the place for themselves. Are you interested in coming over with your club or team? Get in touch now to organise a week fully tailored to suit your groups’ needs in terms of pricing, food provided, coached or non-coached…

Dreams do come true

Late in the year, Leanne was able to turn her dreams into a reality when she took her professional license and joined the very top level of the sport. This has followed several years of very hard work, commitment and focus. Leanne is extremely dedicated and it was a huge moment in her career to be granted her license from the UAE triathlon federation. Leanne grew up in the UAE, and they have been a non-stop source of support for her and we thank the federation very much for continuing their support as she joins the triathlon elites.

Following this, she then had two further races to compete in both in Cozumel. The first was the 70.3 which was seen as a ‘course recce’ for her A-race at the full-distance Ironman, a few weeks later. Putting yourself in the start pen with some of the best of the world is a little daunting, but she went on to have two fantastic results. 4th in the 70.3 and 7th in the full-distance. You can read her blog about the races here (70.3) and a short recap of the full here. Huge congratulations to Leanne for her first pro-races, she has a very exciting future ahead of her!
